The Emperor of Mankind... What more iconic character in the vast 40k universe ? None I reckon. To date though there still isn't an "official" model of him despite the many depictions of him throughout the last 3 decades. I was kindly offered this version in a trade and with the renewed interest in 40k due to the release of its 8th edition, I thought I'd finish a model that had waited half finished for too long.

BULLOCKS ! As you might have understood, this post will be 0 non sense...
So... Bullock Jet bikes... You know, those weird jet bikes with no handlebar and absolutely no consideration for health and safety, an utter ode to danger and bad assery :
|Those bikes are partly why all beakies looked like they were trying to take a poo.|
Well our good pal Mr Papafakis has decided to update the concept with a scratch built version of his own to match this most excellent illustration by Pete Knifton (and brilliantly coloured by Brian Roe) :

Blogging about models I didn't paint myself is kinda of lame I know but this one was one I won during one of Studio/9/art's give aways !
The model is a converted Goblin King from the Hobbit set with tyrannid pieces and it's been skillfully painted by Stéphane Guèbe.

Rogue traders, the last front... oh wait, I'm getting things mixed up sorry. Rogue traders yes, what more iconic character in the 40k universe than those that gave their title to the very first edition ?
There are a few which have had their name written in the stars of g33k fame but this one is probably my favourite.

Bratts are a real funny bit of the Necromunda lore from ages ago. I won't bore you again with all the stories about them so if you fill like you could need directions about who they are, I suggest to read a sum up post I wrote that compiles most of what I know about them.

Quick one today, just wanted to show some close shots of the scenery I painted for my games of Shadow wars and other skirmish games.
The main part was painting the pillars, walkways and platforms as well as all the little details that fit underneath.

From my reports about Inquisitor Greyfax and the Shadow Legion, you might have understood I attened a gaming convention last Week end.
Well all of this started with a brilliant game of warhammer 3rd edition. The game was organised and masterfully GMed by Nico and I really invite you to go read his report of the game as well as the previous preparation posts. You'll have a look in a true genius' mind.

Just had a fantastic WE in Metz and I've managed to not only meet a few friends but also get a few games under the belt !
I'm going to review those in a series of posts (about 3 I reckon) so here's the first : The Journey of Inquisitor Greyfax...

OK, quick one for today. I've recently played a mordheim campaign and i'm about to play a Shadow Wars one and an Inquisimunda one. There's one thing I've learnt so far : I don't like placing my models flat on the table.
Why is that ? Paint chips, bent parts, you name them, that's the sort of stuff I don't tolerate anymore given how much time I spend on my models.
Is there a solution for this ? Yes there is. Tokens are one of them.

Still trying to make the best of the time I have before this WE, here is part of the Show Wars scenery I managed to get done this past week !
I've bought the Shadow wars : Armageddon box at its release (lucky me) and I have to say I'm more than chuffed with it.

An unsual for me this time : terrain. Or to be more precise, terrain of the scatter kind.
See I have a gaming WE in a couple of WE and I have offered to bring terrain to make a table for some 40k skirmish action. Problem is, I'm quite poor in stuff to populate my tables still.
That's why I decided to finally get this kit done.

Playing all those undead lately must have got to my head... I've never found zombies, ghouls and most undead as appealing as now...
Like some sort of sign from destiny, I was offered the chance to paint a few of the scavengers by Macrocosm. Those just fit perfectly with the kind of characters I want to be able to put on the table just to put a bit of pressure on players.

It sometimes takes a good self-kicking in the rear to get some things done...
This has been precisely the case with this project. I got the genesteealer hybrids from the Overkill box about a year ago, build a band of genetically engineered warriors in September 2016 and only just managed to finish painting them after letting them aside half done for months.
The recent release of Shadow wars : Armageddon has proven to be the sparkle that could ignite my interest and after a slow come back I decided to set my standards lower to get them done rapidly.

Last week end, I had the chance to be invited to play a mordheim campaign with the very same folks as last year.
I was very eager to see them again and play a new campaign with my freshly painted undead band.

So after getting nothing done on the hobby front for more than 10 days due to holidays, visits at the zoo with the kids, going to the sea, seeing friends, having romantic week ends and things like that, it was high time for me to get back on more serious and important stuff.

The eternal champion, if there ever was universes that inspired the warhammer setting, Michael Moorcock's epic saga has got to stand on top of the list !
Now some time ago, Colin suggested that we could have a game at BOYL including different incarnations of the eternal champion. That idea did hit bull's eye in our minds and like the others I saw the perfect opportunity to tick a few boxes from my ever growing "to do" list.

Some time ago, I entered an online challenge on Morikun's blog like I had done before.
I was quite lucky to get a couple of rewards for my entry and amongst them a very nice lasercut mdf kit from Systema gaming.

After quite and exhausting but pleasant week end hitting people with a stick and screaming at them wearing a blue skirt and an armour, I finally took the 10 minutes required to finish what had remained a WIP for too long...
Tuesday, 28 March 2017
Just a quick one today after the very heart warming response to my Inquisition band. I've decided to paint a space pirate for fun because pirates are cool and space is so space pirates have to be extra cool right ?

|Proper zenithal underlit and desaturated group pic|
That's probably due to the project in itself being far more fun than I expected to be...

Alright, after a quick and silly group painting session, it was time to get back on my Inq28 painting challenge.
Since I've already built 6 of them (and am in progress on the 7th because even numbers look odd... well strange, you know what I mean), I just had to pick a couple I could do rapidly and here are the guys I picked.
Thursday, 16 March 2017
The other night, a couple of the WIPsters and friends gathered for a little video chat painting session with the silly idea to paint a model in a single session with the most horrible brush of their collection.
You'll get the full report on the Scale Creep with everyone's fantastic results.

Sometimes you just need to step aside and consider things from another angle. That's why I sometimes try to do at least. I was given the opportunity to do exactly that by the friendly folks at my friendly local gaming shop.
The idea between us is to build and paint each a band in the Inq28/Inquisimunda/Grimdark vibe to later play a campaign.
Tuesday, 28 February 2017
Back in December, some WIPsters and I vowed to go on a buying embargo. We've done that before and the idea is to basically stop buying and hoarding models and to reduce the leadpile or at least stop its uncontrollable growth (saving a few coins in the process ideally).
Tuesday, 21 February 2017
Hi all, just a quickie today. Yesterday night I've managed to knock 4 models at once !
Well OK, they're probably the most easy models to do...
I've got my hands on this bunch of oldschool wolves (some of which are from Kev Adams I believe) and got them done in a night.
Both Frostgrave and MOrdheim can use wolves so once again I'm ticking a few boxes with these.

What does any self respecting undead force need ? Come on... Skeletons yes ! So for Valentine's day, I had to paint a couple...
As you might have noticed, the force was pretty meaty and was somehow lacking "dry" elements... Well the only way to do things is to do them right isn't it ? I had to get a few skeletons in the troup and I had the perfect models for it !

Although I thoroughly enjoyed the charms of Hungary and Budapest, getting back behind the brushes did feel great. I had started 2 models bafore leaving and I was eager to get back on them.
These 2 models, despite being of very different statures and status, bear one thing in common.
Come on, I'm sur you know who they're inspired from...
Wednesday, 8 February 2017
Some time ago, I managed to do a model exchange program. My mission was to take care of Hess poisonbreath in exchange for this classic Barbarian from Jes Goodwin when he worked for Asgard.
So a little time ago, I got this guy in the post.
Thursday, 26 January 2017
Never was much into zombies to begin with but I've actually painted quite a few since last year. And I have to admit loving the process. They're very rewarding and quite forgiving and often have plenty of silly details that make most of their charm (how else could we love dead but walking rotting meat ?).
Wednesday, 25 January 2017
Ok, Long shot for this one, you folks might remember the side scrolling game of Advanced Heroquest I played in Ireland some time ago... you don't ? Aw come on ! Here you go.
We had plenty of models to paint for this game as well as for the Frostgrave campaign we would have later that week.
Tuesday, 24 January 2017
Well it seems the grim darkness of the far future has become agitated and that with the news from the front, some tragedies have to be remembered.
With my fellow WIPSters, we've decided that we should celebrate Cadia one last time in our own special way : painting models and saying stupid things. Luckily, you're spared most of the insanity and just see the painted models

Still working on a project that require a lot of stamina, I'm treating myself with pauses like these guys that are just fun to paint.
Following my last post about the vampires, I actually lied. Bad I know.
It was for a good cause though, honest.
Sunday, 15 January 2017
After building my base building from French Model Workshop the other day, I used some spare time to get it painted. A couple of hours playing with the spray cans and washes on Wednesday and an hour or so playing with pigments and some blister foam and here I was !
Saturday, 14 January 2017
OK, so new year, new projects, some dating from way back and some brand new. Well, this one is actually a bit of both.
I've been toying with the idea of an undead force for a long time now but with my "armies" days behind me, I just didn't have the will nor stamina to do a big project like this anymore.
Good thing is, Frostgrave and Mordheim followed by Dragon Rampant with the Champions of Law have tought me small forces can easily made and augmented if you want to scratch a special itch.
With that in mind, since I had painted a zombie for deadcember, I just had to paint a model now and then to slowly but steadily grow my group into a playable force.
Frostgrave being centered around the wizard and his(her) apprentice, I opted for a pair of vampires. Vampires are cool. Well they can be.
Some are. OK ?
Wednesday, 11 January 2017
The other day I was reading Morikun's blog and I fell upon a very interesting post about new scenery kits to come.
I have to say it immediately pressed my buttons, I'm still looking for scenery solutions that are modular and easy enough to use and French Model Workshop seem to have come up with some really fancy stuff.
Monday, 9 January 2017
Along with the scaly mutant from last post, I got this wonderful little creature full of character. I honestly don't know what its name is but I love it.
Its one of those sculpts you don't think about at first but which is essential to give a bit more depth to a setting or to the characters next to it.
Sunday, 8 January 2017
It seems I just can't get my attention from those scavvies... well not that I'd complain really !
After posting the last mutants for the group, I was kindly given the opportunity to paint a copy of Barnacle Ben, the Scaled warrior from Bind Beggar Miniatures. I'm usually one to like being given such opportunities so after receiving it yesterday at noon. I immediately prepared, based and primed it.

New year's resolutions... the fools amongst us keep making them believing they'll respect them while the most strong willed adhere to them to the letter. Well I'm a sort of strong willed fool so I kind of always stay in this middle ground. Why all this rant ? Well I've decided to get as many half finished projects out of my table as I could so after finishing the last 2 models on new year's day, I turned to the next most finished model I could see. Turns out it was a model begun almost exactly a year ago... Oh the shame...Well Fabius Bile was lucky enough to be alone and half finished on top of his old paint pot so I grabbed him !
Sunday, 1 January 2017
Sooo, I've spent a very quiet new year's eve. I was at home with my son enjoying a quiet night with no noticable noise from the neighbors (unusual and unexpected) and just felt like painting since I'd have many more occasions to parteh. Unfortunately these 2 guys were finished at 00:30 so they're going to count for 2017 !
I had these 2 booked for the scavvie band but didn't feel like painting 8 models right away so I first started with the more human members to then get back to the more heavily mutated members.
